Clinic on Meaningful Modelling of Epidemiological Data

May 28 – June 8, 2018

African Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Muizenberg, Cape Town, South Africa

The International Clinics on Infectious Disease Dynamics and Data (ICI3D) Program, in association with SACEMA and the  African Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), held the ninth annual MMED clinic at  Muizenberg.. This 2-week modelling clinic brought together graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and other researchers from Africa and around the world, with the goal of engaging the participants in epidemiological modelling projects that use real data to grapple with practical questions in a meaningful way. The 35 student participants included junior researchers based at institutions in the US, Canada, Africa and India. There were 9 faculty, from North America and Africa, and four mentors selected from clinic alumni. More information about the Clinic can be accessed through the Program’s website:  http://www.ici3d.org/mmed
